Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening Report (March 2017)
Ashfield District Council has undertaken a Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening Report of the Pre Submission Consultation Neighbourhood Plan. After consultation with the relevant statutory agencies (the Environment Agency, Natural England and Historic England) the Council has determined that a strategic environmental assessment of the Neighbourhood Plan is not required as it is not likely to have significant environmental effects.
As such, it is the opinion of Ashfield District Council that the Selston Parish Council JUS-T Neighbourhood Plan is in accordance with the provisions of European Directive 2001/42/EC as incorporated into United Kingdom law by the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations 2004.

Pre Submission Consultation Draft Neighbourhood Plan – 6 week consultations
Our Neighbourhood Plan is required to be shaped by the views of the local community, landowners and businesses that have in interest in the Parish and its future development. Our plan is at draft stage and can be viewed here.

The Townscape Place Analysis study we have commissioned with Urban Forward Ltd, looks at the character and identity of our parish and provides evidence to support the policies in our plan that relate to the built environment.

Scoping Report
Our Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report, finalised in April 2016, has been produced in order to comply with European directive 2001/42/EC concerning Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). All land-use plans likely to have effects upon the environment are required to undergo this SEA process.
The report also includes assessments of social and economic criteria alongside the environmental, which widens it to a full sustainability appraisal (SA). The report is therefore a requirement of legislation.
