Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening Report

Ashfield District Council has undertaken a Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening Report of the Pre Submission Consultation Neighbourhood Plan.  After consultation with the relevant statutory agencies (the Environment Agency, Natural England and Historic England) the Council has determined that a strategic environmental assessment of the Neighbourhood Plan is not required as it is not likely to have significant environmental effects.

As such, it is the opinion of Ashfield District Council that the Selston Parish Council JUS-T Neighbourhood Plan is in accordance with the provisions of European Directive 2001/42/EC as incorporated into United Kingdom law by the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations 2004.

Pre submission 6 week consultations

Our plan is now at draft stage and we are asking all residents of the Parish to have a look at the draft plan and offer views and make comments on the Vision, Objectives and Community Projects within the draft plan to ensure that the local community get the development they want to see.

We have produced a summary of the key policies and objectives, with questions at the back, that will be delivered to every home in the parish by the end of July.

Pre submission consultation questionnaire

In addition we are holding consultation events in July where you will be able to have a look at the full plan, should you wish to do so, and meet with us to ask any questions and fill in your questionnaires.

We’d really appreciate your feedback on the draft plan before it goes out to referendum and then presentation to the Planning Inspectorate for approval and adoption.

Housing site allocation consultation feedback in Community News

The summary of comments from residents from our recent open public meetings on potential housing site allocations  has been published in the Winter 2015 edition of our Community News. The 4 meetings took place in locations around the parish from 22nd September 2015 to 7th October 2015. At the time of going to press no decisions had been made. The next stage is Ashfield District Council’s allocation of sites.

Urban Forward helping JUSt with site analysis

We had a really good meeting today with Garry Hall of Urban Forward.

He’s helping us to prepare more evidence for our plan namely:
1. A report relating to our townscape character and settlement identity
2. A study investigating better linkages between the settlements and countryside (he was pleased to note how many paths we have in the parish!)
3. To develop a ‘key vistas and views’ type plan showing important views into and out of the settlements
4. To look at key sites that may be put forward for development and to produce design frameworks for these sites.

He brought his walking boots and camera and spent a good few hours today being escorted round our parish so that he could get a feel for the areas and the challenges we face!

Evidence and Technical Support Case Study

We are one of the first Neighbourhood Plan Groups to receive an Evidence and Technical Support package through Locality that has helped us to progress with the process of developing our draft neighbourhood plan. As we are all volunteers and don’t have any experience in planning we were very grateful that the report was easy to understand!

Improving Local Transport Links

We are working together with Our Centre on improving local transport links in our parish.

Our Centre have a dedicated team of volunteers who use their own time and vehicles to help isolated people across the Mansfield and Ashfield areas. They provide a door to door service ‘Ring & Ride’ for people who struggle to access public transport to get to where they need to go whether it be to hospital appointments, the shops, etc. They also run fully accessible community minibuses.

If you know of someone who requires their services please call 01623 753192
